ORMOCER® coatings with high scratch and abrasion resistance

The use of ORMOCER®s based on inorganic-organic hybrid polymers led to the successful development of scratch resistant coating systems for various substrate materials (using thermal and UV curing).

Properties

  • High scratch resistance at layer thicknesses of only a few micrometers
  • Lacquers are colorless and highly transparent
  • Dyes, pigments and fillers may be added
  • Combination of scratch resistance with other characteristics such as antisoiling, antistatic or diffusion-inhibiting properties

Areas of application

  • Scratch-resistant coating of plastics
  • Protective coating for metallic materials subject to mechanical or chemical stress
  • Coating of special ceramic substrates or glasses
